3 Dog Photo Ideas for Your Pupfluencer Instagram

Dog Photo Idea 1 – Sunglasses

Find a pair of your favorite shades and put them on your dog for a fun photoshoot idea. I love this photo idea because everyone has a pair of sunglasses lying around the house. The sunglasses that have the biggest impact on camera are the ones with the most personality such as the large, cat eye sunglasses in the above photo. Reflecting sunglasses also have a cool vibe, but it does add difficulty to make sure you are not in the reflection of the sunglasses when taking the photo.

The hard part of this photoshoot idea is not finding the pair of sunglasses, but how to get your dog to sit still long enough for the photo to be taken. My two pieces of advice for capturing a great photo of your dog in shades are be patient and have lots of treats. The dog in sunglasses photo is easier if you have two humans: one person to put the sunglasses on your dog and one person to take the photo. Your dog will most likely hit the sunglasses off right away, so having someone in position to take the photo as soon as the other person’s hands are out of the shot definitely helps. I took the above photo solo though, so it can be done. You just need to be patient. After five or six tries of putting the sunglasses on Rye Lee, I’ll eventually get lucky and he’ll leave the sunglasses on for about 20 seconds, which is enough time to get a bunch of photos at different angles.

I’d love to see photos of pupfluencers in sunglasses! Tag me on Instagram @ryeleeandme if you post a photo of your dog with shades on!

Dog Photo Idea 2 – Head tilt

Do you ever wonder how people take photos of their dogs with their heads tilted or cocked to the side? I always thought that other people just got lucky or their dogs tilted their heads more often than Rye Lee does. However, I recently learned that there are certain noises that typically cause a dog to tilt his or her head. You simply need to go to YouTube and search for dog head tilt noises. Here is a link to my favorite head tilt noises video. I use one phone to take the photo and put the video on another phone right next to the camera so that my dog is looking directly at the camera lens. You can try to make the squeaky, strange noises on your own, but that method has never been as effective for me at making my dog’s head tilt as playing the YouTube video.

Dog Photo Idea 3 – Licking your face

Another simple photoshoot idea with your dog is to have him or her give you a sloppy, wet kiss by licking your face. To make it happen, simply add a small dab of peanut butter to your cheek! Make sure not to add too much peanut butter so that your dog’s tongue can cover the area and the peanut butter is not in the photo. You can always use a photo editing app such as Snapseed to remove the peanut butter from the photo as well. After adding the peanut butter to your cheek, hold your dog next to you in order to get the best angle of your face and your dog’s face. This photo idea of licking your face will be your dog’s favorite because he gets to eat peanut butter the whole time!
